UJA-Federation of New York’s Annual Generosity
01/29/2009 - By Cipriani Wall, New York

UJA-Federation of New York’s Annual Generosity

UJA-Federation of New York’s annual Generosity event gathers nearly 700 Jewish philanthropists in their 20s and 30s for an evening to support the critical services funded by UJA-Federation on Thurs., January 29, 2009, at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC.

UJA-Federation’s Generosity division, chaired by Peter Stern and Aaron Zises, is New York’s society for community-involved, socially conscious Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s. Through exclusive events, programs, and trips, Generosity creates positive, meaningful, and lasting changes in the lives of those most in need.

These emerging leaders of UJA-Federation of New York, the world largest local philanthropy, successfully launched the text-to-pledge technology at their sold-out event last year. Similar to last year’s event, the cutting-edge donor-pledge technology will be featured again at tonight’s event — yet the technology will be taken a step further. Not only are attendees able to instantly text-message gifts from their cell phones or PDAs, to be broadcast in real time on multiple screens in the event space, but the pledge technology will “reach beyond the room,” allowing those unable to attend the event to participate via a live feed, broadcasted on the Internet at www.texttopledge.com/generosity. Friends, families, and those unable to physically attend Generosity will phone, e-mail, and text their pledges tonight and watch online as their pledges are broadcast across the walls at Cipriani. The new technology, soon to be a trend in fundraising, will help Generosity meet their fundraising goals during this troubled economy.

Abby Levin, Jerome Shapiro, and Peter Stern chair the event of young society committed to Jewish philanthropy.
