The Twelfth Annual Spring Luncheon, presented by the Food Allergy Initiative, took place on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Cipriani 42nd Street. Some 600 supporters—a capacity crowd--attended the event, which has raised approximately $758,000 to date. All proceeds will benefit the Food Allergy Initiative’s research, education, and advocacy programs aimed at finding a cure and raising awareness of life-threatening food allergies.

This year, the Food Allergy Initiative presented the inaugural FAI Media Award to Lori Stokes, Anchor, WABC-TV, for her pioneering work in raising awareness of the seriousness of food allergies. Stokes also has acted as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the Spring Luncheon, a highly anticipated event of New York's spring season, since 2005.

Abbey Braverman, Roxanne Palin, and Stephanie Winston Wolkoff were this year’s Co-Chairs. Melissa Rosenbloom was the Event Advisory Chair. Jessica Mukasey Barkoff, Elizabeth Hecker, Jamie Lichtenberg, and Lana Platin were the Goodie Bag Co-Chairs. Liana Silverstein Backal, Nicole Lenner, Melissa Meyers, and Jennifer Fisherman Ruff were the Raffle Co-Chairs. This year’s guest speaker was Dr. Hugh Sampson, Director of the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute, Mount Sinai School of Medicine. The luncheon began at 11:00 AM and support levels were as follows: Tables are available for $15,000, $10,000 and $7,500, and individual tickets are available for $2,000, $1,000, and $500.

The Food Allergy Initiative (FAI) is a national, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to finding a cure for food allergies, which affect some 12 million Americans. Founded in 1998, FAI is the world’s largest private source of funding for food allergy research. Since its inception, the organization has committed approximately $75 million toward research, clinical activities to improve diagnosis and treatment, public policy initiatives, and educational programs to raise awareness among schools, health and child care workers, and members of the food service and hospitality industries.
