The Capital Grille Time–Life and Madison Square Boys & Girls Club

On Tuesday, May 5, The Capital Grille Time-Life and Madison Square Boys & Girls Club hosted an evening of fine dining and charity, in celebration of Madison's 125th Anniversary.

Supporters of Madison were treated to a complimentary meal during the restaurant's pre-opening week, with a portion of proceeds from wine sales benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's "Youth of the Year" program.

"We are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to bring The Capital Grille to New York Midtown diners," said Managing Partner Melissa Trumbull of The Capital Grille in the Time-Life building. "We are also thankful for the opportunity to support our community through our donation to the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club."

Several famed and beloved professional athletes joined the fanfare to make this a truly special evening. Former first baseman and World Series Champion with the New York "Miracle Mets" Ed Kranepool joined WNBA All-Star Kym Hampton of the New York Liberty. Kranepool and Hampton dined with football legends Reggie Brown, former running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Stephen "Touchdown Maker" Baker, who played six seasons and won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants.

These athletes, along with the members and guests of Madison, joined The Capital Grille to support the New York City community and help make a difference in the lives of children. From its seven clubhouses in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens, Madison provides over 6,000 disadvantaged New York children after school programs focused on education, recreation, health and fitness, and character and leadership skills in order to put them on the best possible path for success.

"We feel very fortunate to count The Capital Grille among our friends," said Executive Director Joe Patuleia of the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club. "Not only were our donors treated to a fabulous meal with incredible service, the proceeds from the wine during their pre-opening were donated to our Club. We are grateful for their donation, which will enable us to reach out and serve more children in need."

The Capital Grille, Time-Life will open to the public on May 11, 2009, in Midtown Manhattan's stunning Time-Life Building (120 West 51st Street). New York City's second location, The Capital Grille Time-Life near Rockefeller Center, joins The Capital Grille Chrysler Center, the popular restaurant whose main dining room is dominated by its Trylons, soaring glass and steel pyramids designed by architect Philip Johnson.
