The Bounty of Our County hosted by Slow Food Westchester/Lower Hudson Valley

The Bounty of Our County hosted by Slow Food Westchester/Lower Hudson Valley and Co-Chaired by Jan Frasier Maltby, Susan Rubin, and Christopher Roberts, gathered farmers, community slow food leaders and more for a special dinner.

Christopher Roberts describes the evening as “a casual, food-filled night of cultivating community and the abundant gifts of the land right here in Westchester.”

The dinner was at the home of Jack and Linda Viertel. The evening featured a very special guest: President of Slow Food USA, Josh Viertel. Josh congratulated the guests for participating in the exciting and passionate slow food movement, and talked about the meaning of slow food to the community and the organization’s goals and programs for the coming year. The menu included a pig roast from John Boy’s Farm; breads from Wave Hill; polenta and grains from Wild Hive Farms; heirloom vegetables from I & Me Farms and Amba Farms; ice cream from Blue Pig; and cheeses from Sprout Creek. A silent auction highlighted the evening, featuring items such as dinners at Umami Café, Bedford Post and Crabtree’s Kittle House; a CSA share from Winter Sun Farms; an ice-cream making class at Blue Pig; a vineyard tour and tasting; and, a fly fishing expedition.
