The 2009 End of Annual Meeting Season Celebration Benefits Fountain Gallery

The 2009 End of Annual Meeting Season Celebration took place on May 29, 2009, and drew nearly 200 appreciative guests for a unique evening of cocktails, delicacies, and art to benefit Fountain Gallery, the premier venue in New York City representing artists with mental illness. The offices of Ellen Philip Associates on West 26th Street in Manhattan were transformed into an elegant art gallery for the evening, which featured 100 original artworks displayed for sale by Fountain Gallery artists. The event honored Stephen P. Norman, former Secretary and Corporate Governance Officer of American Express.

While viewing the dazzling array of paintings, drawings, photographs and mixed media pieces presented on easels throughout the space, guests partook of made-to-order sushi by Erik Hagberg of "Cape Sushi" and Caribbean specialties by Evan Hall of "My Belizean Gourmet." At evening’s end, many departed the festivities with newly acquired artwork to add to their collections.

The End of Annual Meeting Season Celebration was established in 2004 by Carl T. Hagberg and Associates and Ellen Philip Associates to bring together professionals from the financial services and related industries to celebrate the end of the grueling "proxy season," while raising funds for Fountain Gallery. Over the years, this benefit evening has attracted an ever wider circle of supporters.

Founded in 2000 as a not-for-profit cooperative, Fountain Gallery exhibits work by a core group of members of Fountain House, an internationally recognized organization which, since 1948, has worked to better the lives of people living with mental illness. The Gallery also collaborates with a wide network of artists, curators, and cultural institutions, providing a platform for exchange and public dialogue. Embracing artists who are both emerging and established, trained and self-taught, Fountain Gallery cultivates artistic growth and makes a vital contribution to the New York arts community.
