Rauschenbusch Metro Ministries 15th Anniversary Gala

On October 9th, Rauschenbusch Metro Ministries held its 15th Anniversary Gala at Riverside Church in New York.

Rauschenbusch Metro Ministries (RMM), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, was founded by Metro Baptist Church in 1995 as a response to the needs of its Hell’s Kitchen community. Fifteen years since its founding, 1300 people a year benefit from RMM’s 12 ongoing programs, including food and clothing assistance to the economically disadvantaged, free literacy programs for children, and mentoring and service opportunities for teenagers. In the near future, RMM hopes to offer GED classes for adults, implement new strategies for supporting the homeless population, and complete a “green roof” project to provide healthy, organic produce to residents in the area. Funds raised from this gala will go directly to supporting the ongoing programs of RMM as well as help to implement future goals.

As part of the nights celebration, RMM honored 3 of its long time partners; The Robert Bowne Foundation which offers support to RMM's after school program, Smoke Rise Baptist Church a partner of Metro Baptist Church since 2003, and Rev. Dr. David Waugh the founding director of RMM. Paul Raushenbush, the Religion Editor for the Huffington Post and the Associate Dean of Religious Life at the Chapel at Princeton University delivered the keynote address.

The night was a great success as we honored RMM's past and looked forward to her future.
