May We? Mais Oui! Saveurs de France Gala 2011

The Alliance Française de Minneapolis and St. Paul is honoring two Minnesotans for their dedication to promoting French language and culture with the prestigious Médaillons de l’Alliance Française.

This year’s awards coincide with a recent judgment by UNESCO to name French gastronomy to its international list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Award of Excellence will be given to Vincent Francoual, of Puy L’eveque, France, who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Vincent a Restaurant. Since a French meal is complete only with a properly paired French wine, this year’s President’s Award winner is Jack Farrell, the owner of Haskell’s. Farrell is a past president of the Alliance Francaise, a past president of the French American Chamber of Commerce, a co-founder of the local gastronomy club The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, and the founder of the local burgundy wine club, Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.
