Community Environmental Council's Green Gala

The Green Gala was a celebration of forty years of environmental leadership in Santa Barbara by the Community Environmental Council.

We partnered with Merryl Brown Events for an "Enchanted Forest" theme. Several local businesses donated trees, shrubs, statuary, fountains and we used them to create the forest feel. Volunteers in fairy costumes, a Queen Fairy arriving on a 'unicorn,' and a delectable dessert bar replete with meringue mushrooms, faux bois chocolate mousse-filled tree stumps and fairy cookies added to the fairyland ambience. Attention was paid to borrowing, recycling and reusing whenever possible.

All food waste was composted and we achieved a diversion rate of 97%! Guests enjoyed local and organic wines from Alma Rosa Winery and the Winehound.
