A Night the Stars Shine On with The Skin Cancer Foundation

An eclectic group of New Yorkers came out to support The Skin Cancer Foundation’s first annual A Night the Stars Shine On event at the Central Park Boathouse on Tuesday June 29.

Guests included violinists Joshua Bell and Philippe Quint; Olympic fencer Tim Morehouse; model Jonathan Niziol; America’s Next Top Model judge Nolé Marin, photographer and cast member of Bravo’s new show Double Exposure Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri; Markus Klinko and GK Reid, also of Double Exposure; TV personalities Lindsay McCormick and Lynne White; Celebrity Stylist Lauren Rae Levy and NY Socialites Steven Beltrani, and Karen Koeingsberg.

Event co-chairs, Mindy Gorman and Elizabeth Robins, Esq., joined forces to introduce The Skin Cancer Foundation to the New York social scene and to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. Mindy Gorman, founder of Live, Love, Laugh, now a part of The Skin Cancer Foundation, lost her beloved husband to melanoma. Elizabeth Robins, daughter of Dr. Perry Robins, president and Founder of The Skin Cancer, grew up watching her father, a renowned Mohs surgeon, educate people about the world’s most common form of cancer. Together, they want to make a difference. They created a magnificent event and rallied a group dedicated group of volunteers all whom helped make the event a tremendous success. The event committee included: Diane Ackley; Anne Akers; Erika Balfour, MD; Maribeth Chitkara, MD; Leena Gurevich; Cheryl Karcher, MD; Ellen Leikind; Séverine Manuel; Sharon Marantz Walsh; Scott Neher; Tony Ocasio Esq.; Sue Phillips; Dr. Marcia Robbins-Wilf; César Sanchez; Deborah S. Sarnoff, MD; and Ian Shapolsky.

Held in a marvelous venue, it was a delightful evening filled with good friends, poker, martinis, and fabulous auction prizes. DJ David Manuel and GQ Taiwan’s fashion photographer, Chiun-Kai Shih generously volunteered their services.

Since its founding in 1979, The Skin Cancer Foundation has set the standard for educating the public and the medical profession about skin cancer, its prevention by means of sun protection, the need for early detection, and prompt, effective treatment.
