11th Annual Valentine Salon "Back To Basics"
04/08/2010 - By New York, NY

11th Annual Valentine Salon "Back To Basics"

After being postponed due to a snowstorm back in February, East End Hospice was finally able to hold their Valentine Salon "Back To Basics" on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Guastavino's in New York City.

With the help from the event chairs, Ellen Lowey and Gloria Alhanti and the sparkling emcee, Juliet Papa from 1010 WINS News Radio, the event was able to raise over $75,000 for this most worthy bereavement summer camp.

The Valentine Salon is an annual for-women-only luncheon that raises money and awareness for East End Hospice's Camp Good Grief- a free-of-charge summer day camp for any child aged 4 to 15 who has experienced the devastating loss of a parent or loved one. This annual event, now in its 11th year, usually attracts 250 prominent people from New York City, Connecticut and the Hampton's for a few hours of networking, fundraising and community awareness.

Each year, the Valentine Salon Committee identifies one key person from the community who has made an important contribution or selfless giving back to receive the prestigious Good Heart Award masterfully crafted by Manfredi Jewelers. Sharon Cohen, Founder & Director of Figure Skating in Harlem was this year's nominated guest of honor.
