How did you meet?: I was on an emergency shift at the ASPCA and a case came in as a transfer from the Animal Medical Center. I called the attending Doctor to get a better idea of the case and it turned out to be Jason. About a week later, he mentioned my name to another surgeon (and good friend) and asked if I was "cute." The next day I was on the phone with her and she was asking all these pressing questions about my personal dating status, etc...and she asked if I would go out on a blind date...I almost said no, but I figured I had nothing to lose. We've been inseparable ever since.
How did he propose? He took me away to Eleuthera for my birthday and rented a small secluded cottage 10 feet from the ocean. We made a bonfire every night, fished, explored the island, and fell even deeper in love with one another. On the 3rd day he purchased a very large lobster from a local fisherman and we cooked and made a bonfire on the beach. Just as the sun was setting, he asked me to join him on the rocks to watch the sunset and then he asked if I wanted to be with him forever...to which I said "of course-but I tell you that all the time" and with that he took a small velvet box out of his pocket and asked if it was "this kind of forever that I had in mind"...more than perfect.
When did you know he was “the one”:
I knew by the 3rd date.
Best NYC moment together: We’ve shared so many so many great NY moments. My favorite times with him are going to the farmers market, walking through the park and hanging out on the great lawn. One evening when the philharmonic was playing in the park, Jason grabbed a spot and a blanket and got all of my favorite types of tapas – like jamon serrano, boquerrones, different cheeses and lots of wine and he invited my girlfriends and we had a n enchanting evening…very beautiful to spend that time with him and friends and he did it for me…so thoughtful! We really enjoy the city and exploring all the neighborhoods together as well – just hitting the pavement and walking all over. One day we walked from the east village to the west side highway in the 20s and stumbled upon a swing class on the pier and joined in – All along the lengthy walk he was so patient so that I could capture all those NY photo ops that I love so much.
