We started talking politics while in line and I bought Craig a coffee as part of a “stimulus plan”. During our conversation I asked when he was going to ask me out to dinner, he asked me and the rest is history. How did he propose? Craig took me to the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building late at night so we could look at the city lights. I was so surprised when he got down on his knee and asked me while holding out a promise ring to make him the happiest man in the world to which I replied only if you get up so these people will stop looking at us! When did you know he was “the one?”: According to my friend Vanessa Bronfman after the first week. Did the proposal go as planned? Yes, but it was almost a disaster. The Empire State Building has airport security that I was unaware of and when we went through the metal detectors the box that the ring was in set off the alarm. I had to convince the security guard to keep quiet and to just nonchalantly look in my pocket so that my future fiancé would not notice.
